House in a Beautiful Place, a Stone’s Throw from the Frasassi Caves
Description
Description
The perfect place to sleep in Frasassi
The house project was born in London in the summer of 2019. Tired of life in the metropolis, we set out in search of a place where we can play, be together and rediscover a more human and less hectic dimension of life. The idea is that of a landlord away from concrete, which resonates to the rhythm of good music.
In Genga we find the ideal place for our guests. A beautiful place, a stone’s throw from the Frasassi Caves, a large and welcoming house abandoned to its fate, which only asks to be lived again.
In May 2021 the landlord is finally ready: the revised systems, the furnished rooms and the defined style. The first guests also arrive, who ignite the spirit of house.
Rooms
Guido d’Arezzo
Guido d’Arezzo was an important musical theorist and is considered the creator of modern musical notation , with the systematic adoption of the tetragrammaton . This replaced the previous adiastematic notation by proposing a unified system for their writing using, for the terminal part of the note, a square, which would then become a rhombus and finally an oval.
The staff used by Guido had four lines (unlike the modern staff, which has five) and was therefore called a tetragrammaton.
He also laid the foundations of the theoretical system called solmisazione , the first form of solfeggio. Guido D’Arezzo was also responsible for the invention of a mnemonic system, called the Guidonian hand , to help the exact intonation of the degrees of the scale or hexachord.
The d’Arezzo has an independent access at street level and is suitable for people with disabilities . The bathroom has a roll-over shower and ample space for people with reduced mobility. The bed is double and from the window you can enjoy the view of the Frasassi Gorge.
Brian Eno
Famous for his particular sonorities and the use of the sound environment, Brian Eno is considered the inventor of ambient music , although his style has ranged, along his prolific discography, from electronic to ethnic, from experimental. to various forms of rock, such as art rock and glam rock.
He was also a forerunner of other genres such as the n ew wave , and the new age . Also known for having collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as David Bowie for the “Berlin Trilogy” and with the Talking Heads.
The Eno can have a double bed or two single beds and overlooks the courtyard and the grove in front of house, which we like to call the witch wood, because of the elms.
Bartolomeo Cristofori
Bartolomeo Cristofori was an Italian harpsichord maker, organ builder and luthier, one of the most famous harpsichord makers of his time.
He was the inventor of the first piano model , a gravicembalo with piano and forte called, towards the end of the eighteenth century, with the name piano , piano-forte , and also fortepiano , as shown in the contemporary posters of the concerts of Beethoven and other great composers of the time in which the piano became popular.
The novelty was the application of a hammer to the harpsichord: Cristofori’s idea was to create a harpsichord with dynamic possibilities that could be controlled by the player. In the harpsichord, in fact, the plucked strings do not allow to control the dynamics as it happens on the piano, thus having the possibility of being able to play notes at a higher or lower volume.
The Cristofori has basic furnishings, a double bed and a suggestive view of the Frasassi Gorge.
Lev Sergeevich Termen
Lev Sergeevič Termen was the inventor of the theremin , the first electronic instrument , famous all over the world, and of many other electronic instruments that are unfortunately forgotten today.
After studying physics and astronomy, together with the cello , he moved as a Soviet citizen to the USA where he patented the theremin and made it known with public demonstrations throughout the United States.
He continued to build electronic instruments at the Moscow Conservatory until, in 1967, following an article in the New York Times revealing his second life in the USSR – in America he had been left for dead – all the instruments he built were destroyed. and thrown in landfills.
In 1992, shortly before he died at the age of 97, the new instruments he had patiently rebuilt were again destroyed by unknown persons who breached his laboratory, along with much of his archive.
La Termen is decorated in a modernist style with 1940s furniture. The bed is double , with the possibility of adding an extra bed , for stays of three people. From the window you can see the historic town of Pianello di Genga and the surrounding green hills.
